Illum Desk Light: Versatile Webcam, Task & Ambient Lighting

The design is great, with the ambient light from the base and the two rotating lights up top. The quality of light is another story. It isnt nearly diffused enough, so it washes out my face and creates hotspots no matter how low I turn it down. Considering returning it but it was a 'last chance' deal so I'm not sure I'll be able to.

What an interesting lamp! I am not a fan of the clamp though. I have the branch desk with a centered power hub. The clamp seems to be bigger than the applicable surface area. It would be nice if the made a smaller clamp. With less depth. Also I don't care for the visibility of the clamp. It would be nice if it had a cover over it. One thing I'd like to see in the future is modularity. I'd like to see them stick one stick to the base for accent lighting. Also a screw in desk mount for the remote.

Not only was the experience with the company great (quick shipping, carbon neutral values, good communication, video showing assembly, etc.), this product is GREAT. Really pretty perfect overall-very thoughtfully designed and well-made which is really noticeable nowadays. I love the feature set this light offers including adjustable warmth and brightness and most of all, that the lights can aim any direction. That was my main criteria and this does it perfectly. Debating getting another one but will use it for a while first to see how much more light is needed. Great work, Fluidstance!!

I've had my desk light for probably about a month now. I will say that this was a great purchase. The only thing that I wasn't sure about while assembling it, was it seemed the two top lights did not connect very well (click or snap in). I expected it to be more straight and level across the top, it seems to sag on both sides just a bit. I'm hoping that this light will last a long time because overall it's a great desk light and I love the many options on the remote itself.

The warm color (2700k) is not anywhere near 2700k temperature. (It is cold, probably at least 3500k) Color rendering index not in product specifications, but clearly the CRI is well below 90. Product quality is mediocre. Would not purchase. Very disappointed.

I was gifted this light, and I honestly can't believe how great it is. It took a couple of minutes to set up, and I had a little wonkiness getting the switch to work, but now that it's working smoothly and easily. Using the remote is convenient and easy. Before this light, I was turning on every other light in my apartment to get enough and now I just need this one. I love being able to change the type of light depending on the time of day and what light is coming from outside. I'm studying for the bar right now and I've noticed a significant decrease in eye fatigue after using this light. It is definitely a big light and the vertical bar doesn't provide as much light for me because it's behind my monitor, but I can turn it away to have light reflect off the space behind me. 10/10 I love this light.

I don't have a desk that the light will attach to. I bought the Raise Monitor Stand but was concerned that it might not work. A quick email with the question brought my answer! The light will safely attach to the Raise Monitor Stand (I knew it WOULD, just wasn't sure if it would be stable enough - I know, what was I thinking! This IS Fluidstance!). I love the ability to control the type of light (ie warm or cool) as well as how bright it is. I'm tempted to get one to attach to a table in another room! Many options! I debated too long! Just get the light!

I love the range of color temperatures, especially on cloudy days when I feel like I need a little sunshine. The three bulbs help light up my office and my setup for video calls without being overpowering or hard on my eyes! My desk is a little wider than the provided clamp, so I had to get a bit creative to get it all set up, but it was totally worth it.

I love this light! Such a beautiful design, dynamic design. I love being able to adjust the brightness and warmth, and readjust the light direction. I generally prefer indirect, dim light, but it is also great that I can adjust the light for video calls.

I had been wanting a new desk lamp, when the Illum came out. I'd been happy with my other Fluidstance products (a whiteboard and balance board), so I thought I'd give this a try. I'm really glad I did! Assembly was pretty easy, and connecting the remote control worked on the first try. I love the flexibility of the gooseneck, and the variety of color temperatures and brightness levels. It's easy to get just the right lighting for the time of day: bright and cool to wake up in the morning, shifting towards dim and warm in the evening. I can even rotate the top bulbs towards me, and dim the brightness, to get good lighting for video calls! Overall, this light has met my needs swimmingly in the month or so I've had it. Very impressive for a first product in a new line!

The initial product I got was great but the remote was not working properly so I sent it back and customer service was super responsive and great and got me a new product back super quick. This light is poorly designed. It’s far too large to be useful, overshadowing even large monitors. The gooseneck doesn’t flex sufficiently and is cumbersome to adjust. Major fail from Fluidstance.
