Do I need a standing desk to use a deck?

Our purpose at FluidStance® is to help set the world in motion. Using a deck at a standing desk is a great way to introduce more movement into your workspace, but you can take advantage of FluidStance benefits in any environment.

How much height does a deck add?

FluidStance decks add roughly 2.5 to 3 inches of height. If you have a standing workstation we recommend an adjustable desk to account for the added height. Adding raisers can also be a great way to keep your workstation at an ergonomically optimal height.

Don't have a standing desk? No problem. The decks are designed to add movement to any space (work, home, classroom). Just step on and start flowing.

What are the dimensions of FluidStance decks?

The Original measures 26.5" long x 12.2" wide x 2.5" tall, and weighs approximately 7 lbs, 12 oz.

The Level® measures 26.5" long x 12.2" wide x 2.5" tall, and weighs approximately 7 lbs, 12 oz.

The Grade (for kids) measures 24" long x 12" wide x 2.5" tall, and weighs approximately 6 lbs, 9 oz.

How do the various models of FluidStance decks differ?

All of our decks are designed to add the same subtle motion to your day. While the functional geometry remains consistent between models, the range in pricing options is a result of variations between materials and manufacturing processes.

The Original ($489) has a bamboo top deck and a base of sand-cast, military-grade aluminum. We've tested the Original to hold up to 300 lbs.

The Level® ($289-$389), offered in either maple, maple (walnut-finish) or bamboo, has a base of die-cast aluminum. We've tested the Level to hold up to 250 lbs.

The Grade ($129) is made from over 90% post-consumer recycled materials: recycled post-consumer plastic such as milk jugs for the base, while the top deck is made from recycled low-emitting rubber tires. We've tested the Grade to hold up to 125 lbs.

Do FluidStance decks work on carpet?

Yes. However, we do recommend using one of our base mats or a small chair mat to provide a firmer surface to optimize your flow and protect wood flooring.

Will the FluidStance deck damage my hardwood floors?

Decks work on most floors, including carpet, wood, and concrete surfaces. Depending on your level of usage, your deck's powder-coated finish may experience wear and tear over time. We do recommend that a protective mat or surface be placed in between the deck and your floor to protect the floor from the constant motion of the deck (not unlike what you'd see from a rolling chair in a similar work area). Our Lo-Pro and Upcycled Resin Base Mats are available here.

Can I stand on my deck all day?

It's important to find the balance between building strength in those small, newly activated muscles and mitigating the healthy fatigue your body feels when it does something new.

If you're just beginning to incorporate a deck into your routine, we recommend beginning with a 70:20:10 breakdown (continuing to spend 70% of your day sitting, standing on your deck for 20% of the day, and taking the remaining 10% to engage in real-life movement) and progressing toward an even balance between sitting and standing.

For those of you who are already accustomed to standing for longer periods of time, just integrate the deck into your usual routine to begin benefiting from the flow.

Can I demo a deck before I decide to purchase one?

If you’re interested in getting your company or school on board, email us at flow@fluidstance.com. We are unfortunately not able to send demos to individual customers at this point; however, we welcome visitors to our Santa Barbara office.

How do I purchase a FluidStance product?

You can get your FluidStance decks and accessories at our online shop. Once you select your product and add it to the cart, navigate to the top right corner of our website to access your shopping cart and complete your purchase.

Can I use more than one card to pay at checkout?

What is your return policy?

We stand behind (and on top of) everything we make. Our purpose is to set the world in motion—your health and happiness on our products is at the forefront of our work.

If your FluidStance® product has a manufacturing defect, we will repair or replace the defective part at no additional cost to you, as follows:

  • The Original and Level® decks have lifetime guarantees against manufacturing defects.
  • The Plane™ and Grade decks and all FluidStance accessories have a limited one-year guarantee against manufacturing defects.

If your Level, Original, Plane or Grade requires repair due to normal wear and tear, we will do the repairs—including wood resurfacing, base painting, or bumper replacement—at a minimal cost to you (estimated on a case by base basis).

We understand that you need to step on a deck to get a sense of how it feels and flows. It’s easier than ever to see if a FluidStance deck is right for you with our Risk-Free 30-Day Guarantee:

  • Order your deck through our site and try it out in your home, classroom, or workspace. If you decide that the deck simply isn’t for you, we ask that you return it to us in the original packaging in like-new condition within 30 days of receiving your order.
  • For domestic orders, contact us at flow@fluidstance.com to request a return label. Once your return arrives, we will issue you a full refund for your purchase, including any sales tax and original shipping costs.
  • For international orders we are only able to issue a refund for the cost of your item(s). Unfortunately, due to the nature of international shipping, we are unable to refund any of your shipping costs.
  • If the product shows signs of wear and tear, at our discretion we may deduct $40 from the refund in order to refurbish it.

After the 30-day window expires, returns will be refunded the cost of items and any sales tax. You will be responsible for your return shipping costs, and again, we may charge a $40 refurbishment fee at our discretion.

Because we are unable to recondition FluidStance accessories, we unfortunately cannot accept returned accessories—including mats and racks—that display wear and tear. Accessories in like-new condition can be returned or exchanged.

FluidStance reserves the right to determine what constitutes a manufacturing defect or wear and tear, and we may update our return policy at any time, but we believe in building a culture of mutual trust and respect—we’ve got your back.
